Peter Anderson learns a lesson in frontier justice.

I fredags afton blef vår hederlige landsman Peter Anderson af några spelhus-hudikar inlockad i Blongers spel-och der förlorade han ett tu tre två depositionsbevis å en Omaha-bank. Det ena gälde å $150, det andra å $125. När han förehöll de innevarande att han blifvit röfvad slängdes han ut ur spelhuset, och det men en sådan fart att "stjernorna på himmelen de blänkte" dervid. Han gick då efter polis för att få skydd, och sergeant Clay blef beordrad att göra undersökning i saken. Sergeanten förde då Anderson inför polischefen Farley, hvilken dock icke ville gifva honom någon upprättelse. Efter att hafva väntat några dagar förgäfves vände sig Anderson till en advokat vid namn Robinson, hvilken sökte återskaffa depositionsbevisen åt Anderson. När polischefen Farley fick nys härom blef han vred och tillsade Anderson, att om han icke pillade sig af från staden och läte bli att tala om polisdepartmentets ruttenhet han ögonblickligen skulle arrestera honom and anklaga honom för spel.

Det synes i sanning vara ganska ruttet, när en fredlig medborgare nekas skydd och bistånd af polischefen och af honom hotas att bli arresterad, om han inte ger sig af från staden. Huh! Hvad skall det blifva häraf?

Last Friday our honorable countryman Peter Anderson was lured by some sporting types into Blonger's gambling house and there in one-two-three fashion he lost two bank notes drawn on an Omaha bank. One was worth $150 and the other $125. When he complained to those present that he had been swindled, he was thrown out of the gambling house with such force that "the stars in the heavens twinkled." He then went to the police for protection, and Sergeant Clay was ordered to investigate the matter. The sergeant took Anderson to see Police Chief Farley, who would not give him any redress. After waiting a few days in vain, Anderson turned to a lawyer named Robinson, who worked to retrieve the bank notes for Anderson. When Police Chief Farley got wind of this he became angry and told Anderson that if he did not get out of town and stop talking about corruption in the police department, he would arrest him immediately and charge him with gambling.

In truth it seems rather corrupt that a free citizen can be denied protection and aid by the police chief, who then threatens to arrest him if he does not leave town. Huh! What will come out of this?
