Perhaps this is my third donation over the years:

'A Murder in Arizona.
KINGMAN, A.T., Feb. 23. - A young man named Hill, was shot in the head and killed by Kate Blonger, an inhabitant of a house of ill repute, at Peach Springs, while he was attempting to batter down the door of her house.'

What a great family website! I have been searching for years to find something about a Joseph Blonger who held US Land Patent (certificate no. 1798, application 3104) for 160 acres, in the area of Grass Mountain near Terrero, San Miguel County, New Mexico, granted in 1892. Any information you may have and could share would be gratefully appreciated.

Excellent web site. Your work inspired me to trace the Weiskircher family across the USA and back to its origins in Saarland.

I just read The Big Con by Maurer and The Inside Mark by Amy Reading. I live in Denver and work on 17th Street, right in Lou Blonger's work neighborhood. Thanks for putting up this site. It's a fascinating point in history. Lou Blonger is said to have had no children. Of which brother(s) are you decendents?

My Daughter-In-Law's Paternal Great Great Grandfather was Edwin Gaylord, who was Manager of the Colorado Policy Association 1889-1890, and a partner of Edward 'Big Ed' Chase in the 1890's in Denver. Apparently the Blonger Bros. superceded Chase & Gaylord circa 1900 in Denver, and your site's data appears to verify that. Thanks for a great site.

Did you know that William Neil Dennison (1841-1904) was a cousin of Daniel Carter Beard (1850-1941) who was one of the founders of the Boy Scouts of America? I don't think Dennison attended any of the scout meetings, or if he did, he didn't take to the codes of behavior. Dennison's grandmother was Polly Mary Carter Dennison. Her niece was Caroline Carter Beard, wife of the artist James Beard and mother of Daniel Carter Beard. There would have been some interesting family reunions.

Several years ago I spent a few days in Leadville, Colorado and toured the old Tabor Opera House. I loved the place and its history, especially since I am involved with a group restoring an old theater. Now I am working on my family history and discovered on this site that my relative William Dennison at one time owned the Tabor Opera House. I hope the only family trait we have in common is our interest in old theaters!

Thanks for you Website. I connected with a cousin (Sara Johnson) who posted here and we have become close. My Great Aunt Carrie Winsor married Joseph Blonger in 1900. She and her first husband (C.A. Viles) had bought land from Blonger in 1895 and built Mt. View Ranch in New Mexico I guess he had to marry her to get his land back. Joseph died in about 1903. A great book has been written by Meridith Hmura on Mt. View Ranch and tells about Joseph Blonger. Thanks again for helping connect folks with long lost relatives.

My family owns numerous historical documents relating to Ohio Governor William Dennison Jr. and his son Col. William Neil Dennison. We were confused until now about which documents related to which William Dennison. With your brief Blonger affiliation page I was able to get a better chronology of my family history and location. Thank You! -Robert Dennison Frenkel

Love your site. I was reading a letter from my Great Great Uncle Bascomb. It was dated 1894 or 1895 he mentions paying the blongers money and also he was writing it from the county jail. I have to look at it again and try to read all of it. When I was reading your site thats when I realized that Blonger was a last name. Geri

I did some checking and found that our great aunt Carrie Winsor Viles married a Hume in 1904. My grandfather sold Hume 40 acres in 1902, presumedly for their homestead. So perhaps his military records were correct with the name Clara.

Carrie is from Rutland, VT. She and her first husband moved to the Cowles NM area with her three brothers, Martin, Isaac, and Henry. Henry was my grandfather and built Mountain View Ranch. He sold out and moved further up the mountains and had Winsor Cabins until his death in 1934. Enjoyed reading as there is a silver mine on the way up to Winsor Cabins (or what used to be) but do not know the name.

Boys, I really enjoy reading your updates. You stick to the facts and never add 'filler'. I know that when I read a bit of information on your site that it can be counted on as factually researched. The information you research may be untruthful, but is usually questioned by you as well. Fantastic job. I hope my site can be half as good when it grows up!

Correction: Cheyenne Mountain and not Pikes Peak, looms over Colorado Springs. Of course I should have remembered that but after a trip up Pikes Peak, that mountain is hard to forget, especially coming down with brakes on the car getting a little weak.

Having spent a few years in Colorado Springs and often wandering into the mountains, your website brings back many memories and love for the area. The area is my favorite area of the world with Pikes Peak looming over the city. I'm sure had I known of the family history in conjunction with the area I would have spent less time fishing in the mountains and more time searching for roots. Thanks to you guys, the roots are constantly being unearthed.
The entire first season of Deadwood is available at the video stores now, I really enjoyed the series with it's touches of reality. Keep up the great work guys. Cheers, Mike
